Opendo Bristol

New UK food and drink venues, every week.

Every café, restaurant, pub, bar, hotel, takeaway and food shop that registered with a UK local council last week — as a spreadsheet, in your inbox.

Nothing can open and serve food in the United Kingdom without first registering with its local council. There are 363 of those councils, each publishing its own register, in its own time, in its own format. Opendo reads all of them every day.

What comes out is the week's new venues: trading name, full street address, postcode, the kind of premises it is, and whether it is a brand-new opening or an existing site taken over by a new operator. Just over half are takeovers, which is the part most supplier lists miss entirely — the site was already there, but the person buying the coffee, the insurance and the waste collection has just changed.

What arrives

  • One spreadsheet a week, by email. It opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
  • Trading name, full address, postcode and premises type for every venue.
  • New opening or change of operator, with the previous occupier named where there was one.
  • Cut to the area you actually cover — by council, county or region — or the whole United Kingdom.
  • Chains, schools, hospitals, care homes and councils re-issuing an existing record are taken out before you see it.

Who it is for

Anyone who would rather hear about a venue in its first week than its fifth year: coffee roasters and food wholesalers, insurance brokers, cleaning and waste contractors, equipment suppliers and shopfitters, and the trades that work on a kitchen before it opens.
